When I say this is more than an essence, here’s why:

This clever complex helps increase naturally occurring retinoic acid in the skin by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks it down. That means it not only supports your retinoid serums (retinol and retinal), but also helps them work harder and last longer, whilst maintaining your skin’s natural levels. Even if you can’t tolerate retinoids topically, NovoRetin™ still offers benefits - helping to smooth skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Algae Extract (Sodium Carrageenan)
A polysaccharide derived from red algae that boosts hydration by forming a light veil over the skin to reduce water loss. It also stimulates the skin’s own hyaluronic acid production, meaning it doesn’t just add moisture but encourages longer-term hydration from within.
Sodium Polyglutamate

I haven’t used it for the full 8 weeks yet, so I can’t personally comment on the long-term claims of improved firmness and elasticity. However, even in the short term, this Performance Enhancing Essence clearly works harder than many typical essences, which often focus only on hydration and barrier support.

How to use: After cleansing, the brand suggests applying 1–2 pumps with your hands morning and/or evening. If your skin is on the drier, thirstier side, I recommend applying a second layer or applying 4 pumps to really flood the skin with hydration.
Final Thoughts
In my opinion, Skin Rocks The Amplifier is more than an essence. While traditional essences hydrate and create pathways for skincare absorption, The Amplifier goes further:
Protects actives (like vitamin C, retinol, and peptides) from environmental stressors
Enhances their effectiveness and performance
Increases hydration and supports long-term skin health
Essences are often described as the cheerleaders of a skincare routine - boosting hydration, improving absorption, and prepping your skin for what follows. However, The Amplifier feels like pressing the turbo button on your skincare.
