Everything You Need to Know About the New Sculpted by Aimee Second Skin Natural Glow Foundation

As a huge fan of Sculpted by Aimee's complexion products, I was intrigued to hear that Second Skin was being reformulated!

If you've followed me for a while, you'll know that I practically lived in HydraTint throughout the summer. However, I tend to reach for Second Skin when I want a little more coverage, particularly around my T-zone. I also find Second Skin lasts longer, so it's my go-to when I want my makeup to look beautiful and last all day.

I've deliberately held back from reviewing the new formula because I wanted to give it a proper test before sharing my thoughts.

And I think they've actually made it even better!

The best way I can describe the new Second Skin Natural Glow is HydraTint's big sister! It has that same gorgeous, lightweight, skin-like finish that I love about HydraTint, but with more coverage and the staying power I want from a foundation.

How Does the New Second Skin Natural Glow Look and Feel?

What I find particularly interesting is the texture. When you first dispense the foundation, it feels rich, almost heavy, and you might assume it will give you heavier coverage and feel substantial on the skin.

However, once you start blending, it transforms into this beautifully seamless finish. It glides effortlessly across the skin, providing more coverage than HydraTint without feeling heavy or looking like traditional foundation.

And the glow is absolutely stunning! And a little goes a long way!

It has this wonderful ability to smooth and perfect the appearance of the skin without masking it. Your skin still looks like skin, just more even, beautifully radiant and luminous.

I also love how the formula manages to deliver that extra coverage without sacrificing the comfortable, barely-there feeling that I look for in a complexion product.

What Skincare Ingredients Are in Second Skin Natural Glow?

Glycerin ranks fourth on the ingredient list, which makes me happy as a skincare expert because it's one of the most effective, well-established humectants that help the skin attract and retain water.

It also includes sodium hyaluronate, a form of hyaluronic acid that helps bind water within the upper layers of the skin, along with panthenol (vitamin B5), known for its hydrating and skin-conditioning properties.

Allantoin is another welcome addition, particularly for its soothing properties.

I also love it when I see a Centella Asiatica complexe included, containing madecassoside, asiaticoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid. Researchers have studied these compounds for their potential soothing, antioxidant, and skin-supporting benefits. Many brands use only one of these, and this contains four!

However, it's important to remember that the inclusion of these ingredients doesn't automatically mean the foundation has been clinically proven to repair the skin barrier, particularly as their individual concentrations haven't been disclosed.

The lightweight feel and beautiful finish can also be explained by the combination of silicones and emollients, which help the foundation spread evenly and create a smooth, silky texture.

Light-reflecting mica contributes to that gorgeous luminosity, helping the skin appear smoother and more radiant without looking overly shiny.

For me, it's this combination of coverage, texture and skin-conditioning ingredients that makes the formulation work so beautifully.

My Verdict: Is the New Second Skin Natural Glow Worth Buying?

Absolutely!

One thing I always look for when testing complexion products isn't just how much coverage they provide, but how beautifully the formula behaves on the skin.

Does it feel comfortable? Does it enhance the appearance of the skin rather than mask it? And does it give me the finish I want without feeling heavy?

The new Second Skin Natural Glow ticks all those boxes.

If you're already a fan of HydraTint but want a little more coverage, I think you'll love this.

And if you loved the original Second Skin and are wondering whether the reformulation is worth trying, I can only say that, having worn both, I actually prefer the new version!

I didn't think Sculpted by Aimee could improve on Second Skin, but they've certainly won me over.

For reference, I wear shade 2.5C in the winter.
